The toughest challenge facing any new brake bleeding tool, is to overcome the initial impression that most automotive techicians have regarding brake bleeder products in general. Years of under performing tools that failed to live up to technician expectations, had resulted in a "show me" attitude from most of the repair shops we visited. Equipment costing $600-4000 was more often than not, relegated to a backup role, with most technicians still prefering to use the manual pump and hold, or gravity bleeding methods. With this in mind, when Speedi-Bleed was first introduced to the Vancouver BC auto repair martket in 1995, we decided to implement a "Try before Buy" demo program. The purpose was two fold, to test how our tool would perform in the "real world" and stack up to other brake bleeding methods, while also gaining sales momentum in a justifiably sceptical marketplace.
A new Speedi-Bleed brake bleeder tool was placed into an auto repair shop for a 30 day, no obligation trial. The only requirement was the technician(s) use the tool as often as possible and really put the complete kit to a proper test. If Speedi-Bleed did not perform to their expectations, and/or live up to our claim of being the best brake bleeder tool available, they only had to give it back, with no strings attached."
During the 9 month period that the "Try before Buy" program was implemented, a total of 308 professional auto repair shops were given a brand new brake bleeder tool for testing. After all the feedback was tabulated, the end result was 254 of these repair shops kept their demo kit. Despite the sometimes skeptical first impression, 4 out of 5 auto repair shops (82% total) purchased their Speedi-Bleed AFTER putting it to a rigid testing.
